Day 18 Morning has broken

Early ride this morning just as the sun was coming up.  Very frosty night but stuck to the main roads which weren’t too bad.

Starting to plan a couple of long rides in the summer.  After cycling the Monsal Trail last year looking to go back to the Peak District and try out a longer one.  I have recently discovered some trails which have been created out of old disused railway lines which were decommissioned as part of the Beeching reports back in the early 1960’s.  As I mentioned, last year myself, Ben and Kev drove to Bakewell in the heart of the Peak District national park to ride the Monsal Trail and it was fantastic.

The top picture is the remains of one of the original railway bridges, the second is of our bikes with the Monsal Head in the background and the last picture is of one of the tunnels we cycled through, which was also the longest. It was an excellent day.  Looking to do the high peak trail in the summer.
